The first problem I encountered was the bar would not move far enough to the rear of the car. This was caused by a small moulding in the plastic bumper. I cut away a small amount of the underside (Photo 6).

Problem 2. The corner of the towbar was too wide to fit in the area behind the bumper just above the exhaust pipe, so I cut the corner off the box section of the Towbar (Photo 7).

Problem 3. The plates which fit in the boot would not line up with the bolt holes, so I had to cut the corner off the plates (Photo 8).

Problem 4. One bolt hole is very close to the exhaust mounting hook. I had to use a thinner washer and align the nut over the hole, then my daughter turned the bolt while I tried to hold the nut in place, this was a bit difficult but eventually we managed it.

Problem 5. The spare wheel supporting plate would not fit. I had to cut a piece out (Photo 9).

Problem 6. The hook which pulls up the spare wheel supporting plate just fits (Photo 10), but the washer that sits on top of the hook can cause difficulties when trying to locate the hook on to the wheel supporting plate. I stopped the washer getting in the way by winding a small wire around the top of the thread to hold the washer at the top.

With the bar fitted I worked out the angles and length of bar which I needed to make the ball section (Photo 12)

I borrowed a length of metal box section which just fitted the witter bar (Photo 13).

I then cut a V into it and bent it to the correct angle. After cleaning it up, I had it welded by a friend.

I then had a plate made to hold the towball. This plate was then welded to the bar and all that was left to do was to drill the holes through the box section I had made, buy 2 high tensile steel bolts, and paint it (Photo 14).
